Why Disney scenes look the same:

Andrew Sullivan has a link to a clip assembling recycled templates in Disney animations.

That was funny.
I really kind of surprised that they’d do that, but I guess it either a)saves a lot of pre-finish work or b)guarantees blocking (or whatever you’d call that in animation) that is already proven aesthetically satisfying.
I enjoyed hearing the dwarves Silly Song in french.

It really does emphasize how Disney turned animation into an industrial process.

Interesting. I was going to make a comment about the
time period in which those films were made, but at the
end, there’s Beauty and the Beast right there alongside
Sleeping Beauty…

Fueling generations of Bridezilla eruptions…

That is not really fair to…
Oh crap…

that’s a good word, Bridezilla.

I actually had noticed this in many of the movies shown. For example, the similarities in Robin Hood and the Aristocats. At that point, I chalked it up to being made during the same time period (which would have explained Jungle Book as well). But I didn’t know about the similarities between Robin Hood and Snow White. Interesting!

I did too…I’m going to play it for Katherine later. She’d appreciate it, now that she’s becoming somewhat fluent.

SOP in the graphics world.

Now that was cool. Thanks for that. Everybody got a kick out of that at my house.
