Hey everyone… again…
Tradman and I are going to the Highland games in at Stone Mountain. We were wondering how many fellow chiff and fipplers are going to be there. Whoever is going, see ya there!!!
Oh, how I wish I could… but, alas, Stone Mountain has become too expensive for my family of four, especially with the special event cost on top of it. 
Have a fabulous time and whistle a tune for me, should you get the chance!

I truly whish I could - that’s where our clan society is holding the general meeting this year. But time, distance, money and physical problems make it an insurmountable problem.

I am way too far away to make it to Stone Mountain this year but would love to go. It is a great venue and well organized. There is excellent piping, drumming, and dancing. Especially with the performance by Simon Fraser University Pipe Band it will be a spectacular event. See them! They are amazing! I count myself lucky to have met several of the players in the band and to have heard them perform up close (standing right behind the pipe major in the Montreal beer tent).
There are usually very good folk bands performing throughout the day too.
To all who plan on attending, enjoy yoursleves. To all considering, GO!

SFU Pipe Band…truly world class. I graduated from SFU and during my final semester I made an interesting discovery. The band had regular practices out in the far reaches of a remote parking lot!! For the rest of the semester, when I walked out of that evening class I sat and listened each week before starting the commute home.

My wife and kids will probably go, but I am flying to Texas to paint my Aunt’s house…oh well, maybe next year.
Oh, how I wish I could come to Stone Mountain! I grew up in Atlanta, so that was my first highland games experience. It really makes pretty much all the others pale by comparison!
I highly recommend you check out a band called the Full Moon Ensemble. They’re based in Alabama and play various Celtic music (mostly Scottish and Irish). They’re a lot of fun to listen to, and they have one of the best singers you could ever hope to hear. Besides, they’re really nice people.
I’ll be thinking of all you lucky folks this weekend!

It was a pretty good games. I have been to 4 of them this year (here in Jacksonville, Savannah, Grandfather Mtn, N.C., Stone Mtn.)
Being that I have been to 4 of 'em this year alone, I think it’s time to take a break from games. The best part had to be how nice the area was and most certainly the music from the nice members of Full Moon Ensemble and to hear a nice 25 second flute part of a Cape Breton song that was performed to a dance from ‘Clandestine’.
Oh yeah, it was blast having my sister Tradgirl and the wonderful girlfriend and cousin alon too! Road trips are the best part some time!
