Whither McHaffie (Take 2)?

Anyone heard from John since his posting on 7 November? I have been trying to get a reply from him for months. DaveO recently posted that his recent emails to John have also gone unanswered.

John, if you read this, please send me an email at EWolfgang@AOL.com. Or, since email seems to be unreliable, could you post alternate contact information? An AIM address, paper-mail address, and/or a phone number?

Thanks,
Eric Wolfgang

I still haven’t heard from John McHaffie–how about you Eric?

Dave

I am also waiting for a reply and a whistle. Hopefully it won’t be much longer before we get a reply.

Hi, I’m new to the list. The reason I joined was to find out if anyone knew anything about John McHaffie. I ordered a pennywhistle from him in July and have not heard anything from him since. I’ve left messages on his answering machine and have emailed him to no avail. Just looking at a couple of messages, it seems there are others in the same boat. There are 3 others I know of here in Texas that also placed orders with him that have not heard anything either. Does he have a reputation of doing this? Or is this maybe due to major upsets in his life? It’s become V-E-R-Y frustrating.

Jeanine

Jeanine,

Well, if misery loves company, we should all be pleased. I’m waiting on a whistle set ordered in April myself. From my own experience, and what I’ve read on the boards, John was pretty responsive up until about July. There were a few odd periods here and there when he was out of communication due to his computer being stolen, sick relatives, etc., but in general he took the time to reply to emails.

Since then, except for the odd post to this forum, no one seems to have heard from him. I am hopeful he will resurface eventually, but I am bracing for a long wait.

In the meantime, I convinced my father to buy me a Burke high D Brass Pro for my birthday. It arrived just a few days ago, and I am very pleased (ecstatic?). So at least I am whistling happily while I wait to hear back from John.

Eric

Eric, glad to hear you have something to play. Sorry to hear that you’ve waited even longer than I have for your ordered whistle! I’ve got a couple here to play…but I liked the sound and look of John’s. What a sorry event this has turned out to be. And the worse is that it has been the first time I can remember ordering something from a fellow musician, paying for it and then having them not keep their end of the bargain. It will be hard to not have it color future thoughts of pre-paid purchases.

Oh well, live and learn. Keep whistling!!

Jeanine
