Whistlin Kiowa

We had a blast with the Rocky Mntn. Boys this past Saturday at the Kiowa celtic festival. Thanks soooooo much to Blayne for leading and all the others who traveled out to the Boonies to play and listen. Sorry I didn’t get to meet Mr. Rowe. Heal up soon.

Yeah! Who woulda thought - a celtic festival in Kiowa! I really enjoyed it… Probably the best part of the whole thing was getting to know Don Lambert & his family better… He and I spent a lot of time planning for the event and had a great time in the process! It was also great to finally meet you too Phillip! I’m starting to see what a small group us Celtic Musicians are! The band that was playing for the contra dance group were some friends of mine that I’ve played with here in Greeley too! Well… Mondays are my day off… hmmm… what to do… what to do…

Peace,

Blayne Chastain

I went too but had to leave at 3 on Saturday. The wife was getting tired. It was a bit windy, just a little. Gobs O Phun was a great band and then there was some Uilleann pipe playing. My wife is from Morocco and wasn’t aware of my Irish roots. When we got there she asked what a clan was. Time for some remedial Celtic education. So much for cowboys in kilts.

Kiowa was really excellent. It was good to meet everyone. Thanks to Blayne for helping me with whistling tips and being a great friend. Its really neat to get to know people in person and forge friendships. Thanks Dale & Rich for providing this meeting place.
The festival was my first time to play in any sort of group or performance. It was a good learning experience. I am just used to playing alone and playing with others helps to point out any weaknesses such as breathing and timing and just plain old not having the tunes down like you thought you did.

Overall a great time. Thanks everyone.

Don

Hi all,
glad everything went well, I have been out of touch as it was painful to try and type. Went to the doc this morning, cast comes off next week so I should be able to start playing again soon.
