Whistles for sale - everyone be nice now

I’ve procrastinated long enough and I’m now ready to list the whistles I have for sale.

I have no problem with how anyone else prices their whistles on the forum. I might even find something I want that I can’t readily get somewhere else and will scoop it up. But I have bought and sold and traded on this forum and it has always been a positive experience. I have received good value and some bargains in my transactions and hope I have returned the same. I just can’t bring myself to sell on the forum to make money on whistles that people have sold or traded me at good or bargain prices. It would feel too much like trying to make money off my brother or sister. I like to see whistles for sale here and really don’t care how other’s price their whistles…that’s not true, I really like to see expensive whistles selling cheap!!!

I have an Abell standard set due in early January so here goes:

For Sale: (add $5 shipping/insurance to any one or multiple items to the same address)

Overton Low D Tunable - $110 (currently under purchase agreement)
I almost hope this one doesn’t sale so I can put it on ebay and make money…but someone let me have it at a good price so before I do the auction thing, I offer it here. It’s dated 1999 and got a ding or two in it. You can’t be shy or it won’t play for you. I find it hard to hit the top part of the second octave but I haven’t near as much time into this one as have my other low Ds - Overton, Reyburn and composite Burke.

Reyburn Low G - $135
In this key I play my Burke composite more but I like all of my composites a bunch (not getting rid of the Reyburn Low D though)

Silkstone Alloy D/C set - $175
Paul made this one for me to play a little quieter than his standard alloy. It’s not quiet, just quieter. He then agreed to make a C tube for it and, if anything, I like the C better than the D. Last I heard he was not making the tube other than as part of a complete whistle. With out doubt I will regret selling this set.

Copeland High D Brass - $200
If I’d had this one early in my whistle seeking journey I might be keeping it but I can’t afford to keep everything

“Learn to Play the Irish Low Whistle” with Ralph Cook $15 (under purchase agreement)
I don’t know if this is still being made. I’m not saying it isn’t, I just don’t know. It helped me get started but I no longer need it. It says $29.95 on the bottom of the case.

Tuffbags Deluxe whistle case - $40
I was going to modify the inside to widen one of the pockets and goofed up the fleece on the inside in two places maybe an inch or so each and then dabbed glue on them. Doesn’t disturb how it functions and cannot be seen from the outside. Color wine or whatever they call it. Last time I checked the Tuffbags website they wanted $65 for this so its a real bargain

I’ve also got a couple of bamboo flutes. I think one is Bflat and the other Eflat. I know the Bflat is not an Olwell and pretty sure the other isn’t. I got both off of ebay at different times. I’d take $30 for both

Mostly interested in selling but you never know. I am looking for a Burke Composite Narrow Bore High D and a Composite A (I had to trade my A off a while back to get a whistle I really wanted and I’ve been missing it)

If interested please contact me at my email, not directly on the forum. What doesn’t sell in a week or ten days will go on Ebay.

edited to include “my sister”. Even though I don’t have a sister, I wouldn’t want to make money off of her. I’m gonna quit 'cause I don’t think I’m making this better

Just wanted to give a vote of confidence for anyone thinking of doing business with Jim here, I’ve dealt with him a lot in the past and actually just bought a whistle from him today. A great guy.

–Beth

Thanks Beth,

I can say the same about Beth. First rate all the way. I still remember all the work she put in to sending out the CDs from the Rocky Mountain music session. When I get overwhelmed at work, I put on the CD and smiiiiillllleeeee! And I wasn’t even there.

BTW, the Ralph Cook offering is a video.

Overton is currently under a purchase agreement.

The Ralph Cook video is under purchase agreement.

Just wanted to concur with Beth.

I’ve had many transactions with Jim. I’d sell him a house on a handshake.

Doc

Actually I’ve dealt with more people than I can easily remember here on C&F, buying and selling whistles…you, Doc, and Jamie Hamilton, Loren, cskinner, Earthmom, and many more whose names I just can’t remember any more. Everyone, without fail, has been honest. That’s quite a track record, for folks I’ve never met face to face.

hey live how is your burke composite low. Does the upper register blow easy like his high D. ANd whats the volume like. I have a chieftan that I love. Its in tune and has a great full pure tone. How does the Burke compare. Oh what was that you want to sell the burke?

Thanks Doc. And Blackhawk.

I don’t want to start naming all the people who I’ve had such positive interactions with. Actually I do want to do the naming thing but my memory would inevitably fail me and someone would be left out.

It’s amazing. So much to be thankful for.

The Copeland is under purchase agreement.

Drummerboy, I didn’t understand your question:
Oh what was that you want to sell the burke?

The low D composite Burke has a nice sound. It’s not as pure as the Al Pro which was nice but I’m finding I’m liking whistles a bit less pure than I once did. Breath requirement ask more of me than my Overton but still really fairly easy. The light weight is delightful and volume I would describe as medium. I now have composites in high D, C, Bflat, G and low D and like each and every one.

Hey Jim, you have something in common with Winnie the Pooh and John the Baptist. Know what it is? No, it’s not that y’all like honey.
You all share the same middle name.

Tom.
(OK, it’s been a crazy day and it’s starting to show)

Ah, shucks, no money!

Hey Tom,

It’s been a long day and it took me a bit to figure it out. At first I was thinking “in the box” and could only come up with James Robert Durdin, Jim Bob Durdin, Jimmy Bob Durdin, John Robert Baptist, Johnny Bob Baptist, Winifred Robert Pooh, Winnie Bob Pooh…and then a huge A HAH!!! and I got it.

In the same vein, I’m sure you’ve heard about the Russian and Czechoslovakian scientiests who had dedicated their lives to to the study of the great bears. Of course all the great bears have long since been hunted to extinction in Europe and pushed to the far frontiers in Russia. So the two scientists begged and pleaded to be able to come to the US to study grizzly bears. It was pretty much impossible until all the changes had occurred in Russia but at long last their Visas were approved and they ended up at the Ranger Station in Yellowstone National Park. The rangers were very patient and gave their standard spiel about grizzlies but that wouldn’t do for the Russian and Czechoslavokian scientists. They insisted that they had studied the great bears and now wanted to see them in their natural habitat.

The rangers were very patient but the scientists insisted and finally they agreed to take them out to the wilds so they could observe the grizzlies. The help them set up camp and gave them a radio and insisted that they call in every day.

All went well for five days but on the fifth day, the scientists did not call in. The rangers gathered up their equipment and traveled to the camp only to find it completely destroyed and blood on the ground. They were concerned for the safety of the scientists and also feared an international incident so set out to find out what happened to the Russian and Czech scientists.

These were experienced rangers and while tracking the grizzlies figured out that there were actually two bears, a big female sow and and even bigger male boar. They finally caught up to the bears and managed to shoot one and the other ran away. They approached the bear only to find that it was the female grizzly. They cut it open and decided that she had eaten the Russian scientist.

One Ranger looked at the other and said: “You know what this means, don’t you?”
The other ranger shook his head and said: “Yeah, it means the Chzechs in the male.”

Compliments of Klick and Klack the Tappit Brothers

Groan, Groan, Groan.

Y’all take care now
