Hi. It’s interesting that you posted this here instead of on the whistle board, but I’ll answer it anyway. Ralph Sweet has a new whistle design (the first one on that page) that is reported to have a more mellow tone than the previous one. The previous one, pictured with keys (and without keys just above the one with keys), was EXTREMELY shrill in the upper octave, making it fairly unpleasant to play (thus the new design). So…if Ralph is making keyed whistles in the new design, I bet they’d be good. But I don’t know if he is.
