Every now and again I write emails in German to people, yes believe it or not. Being used to the whistle terminology in English it can be very hard at times to find a fitting German word and simple enough to understand.
Something about pipers grip and tips of the fingers:
Anyways some of you may have heard from the very German way of combining multiple words into one so they can get VERY LONG. Well this is what I just came up with when I wanted to explain the difference between pipers grip and the “Blockfloetenfingerspitzentonlochschliesshaltung” (yes, it is one word and it means the "recorder finger tip tone hole closing position), as you can see I had some problems in getting a simple translation…
in germany the writing is like the long mile road
there is every kind of character, all carrying the full load
about pipes and whistles, very hard to read
and keyboards overheating from long haul and mighty speed!!
don’t worry about it brigitte, soon you’ll be mixing up the two laguages together like the words beneath my avatar
colin of cause will do the same, but the other way 'round.
but if the two of ye try to say the same thing at the same time, people can compose a full german version, and also a full english version out of it!!
