If anyone cares to take a trip to Saratoga Springs this Sat, check out this show at Caffe Lena (www.caffelena.com)
Irish Whistle Night
With jigs, reels, airs, hornpipes, whistles high and low and the occasional song and story, this year’s whistle night will feature New England/Celtic virtuosa Sarah Bauhan, Broken String Band founder and well-known session player Ray Wall, longtime area whistle teacher George Ward and Roland Vinyard and the Valley Bog Players. The musicians always bring out special - and occaisionally beyond special, bordering on weird - bits for this event (who can forget Ray playing whistle and Irish pipes simultaneously… and making real music !).
Join us for a hoppin’ celebration of the instrumental mouse that roars.
Caffe Lena is a real musical landmark, and Saratoga is a terrific town with lots of great restaurants, etc. Well worth a weekend trip. Look for me there..
