Can someone direct me to a site that gives “standard” physical lengths of whistles? Just curious.

you could calculate the length, approximately, like this:
whistle length = speed of sound / 2 / bell note frequency
- windway length + ca 1 bore diameter
some lengths from high to low
(this varies according to windway length and bore diameter used):
E ~ 27 cm
D ~ 29.5 cm
C ~ 33 cm
Bb ~ 37 cm
A ~ 38.5 cm
G ~ 44 cm
low F ~ 49 cm
low E ~ 54
low D ~ 57.5 cm
low C ~ 65 cm

That’s very handy. By length, do you mean from the lower edge of the window to the end?
me? i was talking about approximate overall length, handy to sew some pouches perhaps.
Also: the formula is rough, because the end correction (ca 1 bore diameter) is not correct!
Hans, shouldn’t the A whistle be about 39 cm long? It should be shorter than the G, longer than the Bb.
yes, i measured 38.5 cm and typed 28.5.
