Whistle and Squeak has moved!

Whistle

Just for grins, Yahoo decided to ditch Geocities, where I have had my website hosted for the last 5 years. I suppose it was time to reorganize it, anyway.

Here’s the New and (somewhat) Improved Whistle and Squeak. At least I own the domain name now!

I’m trying to get yahoo/geocities to create a 301 redirect, since I can no longer edit the site. It’s annoying that I had good search engine visibility, and hundreds of visitors each month, all of which I can no longer access. If I’d been just a bit quicker, I might have gotten the redirect done before they turned the switch.

Alas…

Please help spread the word, update links, etc, so that the search engines will again deign to recognize my little corner of whistledom.

I’ve grown rather proud of my amateur effort - I’ve got about 80 songs now posted with sheet music, tablature and midis.

Thanks and blessings,

Mark

No luck on the redirect from the old site to the new one. Got an email from Sanjay in Yahoo support telling me to ftp new files over the old ones. Great idea, except the ftp server for Geocities is not available any more.

Wrote back that their solution didn’t work. Got another email telling me there was no way for Yahoo to do a redirect from a Geocities plus site. Really? Their “upgrade to wonderful Yahoo webhosting” page says they’ll do it.

I’ve decided to just deep-six the old site, and hope the search engines rediscover me. I had good traffic that I’d hate to lose.

Alas…
