Which high-D whistle has the strongest bell note (lower D) ?

Jim ~ Where did you find the Aire “Farewell to Glasgow”? It’s lovely.

Mary

Only one way to resolve this. All the whistles have to be tried under identical conditions, with the following circumstances:

  1. Ambient temperature 70F
  2. Whistle head temperature 80F
  3. All holes taped shut.
  4. Air applied to the mouthpiece from a controllable source
  5. Record absolute sound output in dB immediately prior to octave break.

I will hereby volunteer my extremely valuable time and equipment to this task. All of you who have expressed an opinion, please send your whistle that you’ve nominated to me for this test.

If you want it back, just come pick it up at my summer house, and do stay for dinner! What? You don’t know where that is? Oh, dear… maybe we can meet in Monte Carlo next time I drop by there… My DayTimer says 2nd Sunday in May, 2045. That okay?

Do insure your whistles, too. Best to send Overnight Express, and I’ll take really good care of all of them until you come pick them up.
