So far I’ve only been able to find video performances of Solas, and Flook (the Flook video is unavailable in U.S. video format - It may not be available at all in fact.) Aside from the Mad for Trad instructional CD-ROM’s (anyone got the Egan or Finnegan ROM’s they want to sell?), has anyone seen anything else out there worthwhile? Not looking for Riverdance type stuff mind you, group or solo live performance type video is more what I have in mind.
It surprises me that, as cheap and easy as video production is these days, that there aren’t more Irish Music tapes out there like the Solas video. And what about old film converted to video of the Geezers? (Term used with affection 
) I’d love to be able to hear and see some of the older generation IR Trad players belting out the session tunes (Yeah, I know sessions aren’t idea places to record much of anything, but I’m sure it’s been done now and again over the years.)
Okay Laban, here’s your opportunity to show us what we’re missing, and prove once and for all that we should dump the outrageously overpriced and overdecorated sticks we call whistles: Surely you, of all people, have the connections to round up some footage of authentic IR-Trad being played the way it should be… How 'bout it, put your back into for the cause?
