Usually, during the summer you can find fest-noz (do not know about the plural form) anywhere you want. Lots of music, dance and food. If you happen to go there in early August, you should check out the probably biggest Celtic festival in Europe, the Festival Interceltique in Lorient (starting around 3rd August. They have a website, though I forgot about the address. You should find it via Google or any other search engine. As far as I remember, Quimper has a good festival, too.

Make sure you visit the Galway Inn (my brother Padraig’s bar) in Lorient if you make it there. He’ll set you straight with regards to all the local music events. There are regular sessions in his place also and it’s not unusual to find some of the big names in Irish Trad playing there when they are touring.
Quimper is known for it’s Bombarde makers and reeds. Most of the towns in the area you want to visit have web sites. There are also festivals in Morlaix but the music shop there is overpriced and not very helpful. But we found a lovely shop in Brest that gave me a handsome discount on a Melodian when they discovered we were Scottish. ![]()
Every town in Brittany seems to have a bulletin board right in the middle of town. Check it out: the posters and flyers give all the latest music events…they are everywhere.
