Where to find tunes to play on a low F

Now that I have my Susato low F I would like to find some tunes to play. Preferably slow. Twisting the hay rope, Clay of Crillwhatsit, Sally gardens all sound good. Somewhere I saw a reference to a book for playing low D’s. That would do fine.

with this programe http://www.ronimusic.com/ you can slow down any cd or mp3 to standstill and put all your music in F. so there’s no need to find tunes played in F. it’s shareware, maybe try the sample version first, it’s very easy to use
if you need sheet music, there’s a free programe called http://www.sharewaredirect.co.uk. this programme does much more then the above but can only play midi files. if you’re looking for sheet music, be sure to try this out, it’s totaly free!!
the midi’s you can find at http://supersearch.mudcat.org/@NewSSResults.cfm or http://trillian.mit.edu/~jc/music/abc/FindTune.html

Christ Lixnaw! That must be the third or fourth time you write abot that programe, and your not the first one to mension it. You must really like that programe. Ok, I admit, it is very useful…

I recently got a Susato low F myself and love it. Mine is much quieter than I thought a Susato would be. What is the volume like on yours?

I use “Ireland’s Best Slow Airs” and “The Low Whistle Book” that I purchased from The Whistle Shop. They’re written mostly in D and G but play well on the Low F.

Mine is quite loud, doesn’t require a lot of breath and is easy to play. I was looking for a low D but the shop (Oxford, England) didn’t have one and I wouldn’t buy one without trying first because of the finger stretch. I started whistling by accident and luckily bought a clarke sweetone which was playable unlike many other cheap whistles I have had since (2 1/2 years now)
then I went on to a silkstone D which I really love. I have got to the stage of getting all the chromatics now in the two octaves. Need to half hole the D# and F. Getting into Bach as well as the Irish stuff.

Thanks for the pointers to sources.

Ah, where do I get interchangable barrels from? Do Susato sell them? (I bought the Kildare tuneable) It would be a good way to get a range of whistles without the expense.

Renaissance music. Especially by the man your whistle is named after.

Here’s a site with some neat renaissance music.
