I noticed when I try to play recorder, my thumb is inbetween my R2 and R3 fingers because that’s how it is when I play whistle, and that makes it hard for me to remeber to keep the thumb hole covered. I’ve been looking for pictures of people playing whistle to see where they put thier thumbs and I never can see because of the other 8 fingers in the way.
I picked up a whistle and my thumbs are directly opposite the index fingers on the down side of the whistle .
My left thumb is directly under L1 on all of my whistles. The position of my right thumb varies depending on the size of the whistle. On a high D, it is directly opposite R2 but on a low D, it is opposite R1.
I don’t know, I just grab it and start playing!
