Yes, sadly the domain expired and some cybersquatter snagged it. But now it’s easy to memorize! Photos and videos from this years tionol will hopefully make apperance provided we get some.
Patrick,
Just for information, if you know, why do cybersquatters snag a domain name like ‘great northern Irish pipers club’? So that they can sell it to you if you really want it? Or have they designs on becoming pipers? Alot of pipers are computer geekey you know!
Well this piper, at least, has managed to remain geekiness-free… em, when it comes to computers anyway. ![]()
At exorbitant fees.
The problem is that when you purchase a web domain, you have to renew it every few years (typically three to five years). During those intervening years, your contact information may change or the person managing your site may be replaced by someone else, and when the domain registry tries to contact you to tell you that your domain is about to expire, nobody gets that message. In the meantime, hordes of “cybersquatters” have systems in place to ensure that the second your domain expires, one of them will snatch it out of your grasp and then offer to sell it back to you if you’re willing to pay their price (typically hundreds, thousands, hundreds of thousands, or even millions of dollars, depending on the perceived value of your domain).
Working on it…

You’ve got it exactly right Brad. It’s a big probem with clubs where memberships fluxuate and the registrant of a domain name may dissapear. So take this as a warning. Make sure you have control of your domain name. You can check at:

Not a geek, but as a designer I have to be somewhat fluent in Geekish.
