Anyone notice that the bassoon player keeps the dust off his fish pads? I wonder whether you could use fish skin on UP keys, particularly the regs?

Sure, why not. Or a nice marlin or shark skin for the bag. It’d be water tight anyway! No one would need to ask if you were in the session anyway! Even if you had already left

Fish glue is very useful. Does that mean that fish pads would be self-adhesive? And how would you keep cats out of your pipe case?

My cat will sit in the pipe case anyway with no piscine appurtenances to lure her.
Some fish skins can be tanned just like leather. I have seen a thing on tv where somebody in England was trying to market bikinis made from tanned salmon skin. At least she could say it was the bikini that smelled like fish.
