Hi,
I was wondering if anyone has heard of these two CD’s put out by Yazoo records called “The Wheels of the World.” They are collections of old field recordings of ITM. I came across them while roaming around on amazon.com. Anyway, if you have heard them, what do you think? Are there many piping tracks?

Check out 30 second samples from each track here:

They are great if you are already into the older styles of playing, but if you don’t care for stuff from the 1920s-40s then you’d best stay away. If you are not familiar with that sound, buy one and see if you like it enough to buy the second one.

Actually if you’d poke about at the Smithsonian all this stuff is free!
Toasty, can you be a little less cryptic? Are you saying the Smithsonian has free downloads of music recordings? Where would I look? I can’t find anything relating to, for example, uilleann pipes. I do have the Smithsonian Folkways recordings from the 1950s-60s. These were certainly not free. They are not the same as the much older recordings that are on the Wheelsof the World collections. Any info is appreciated.
Thx,
