What's your favourite non-UP song?

Mine would be Butthole Surfers - Comb, from Double Live Bootleg - Disc 2. Free online MP3 too. How 'bout 'dem apples?

I enjoy “Yesterday” by the Beatles, written by Sir Paul McCartney 40 years ago.

The sense of love lost that it conveys seems timeless, underscored by a simple, yet perfectly phrased tune which somehow captures the complexities of a relationship within the pathos of loneliness of life without a partner to share, short term that it might (or might not) be.

But I definitely plan to give the Butthole Surfers a listen.

Works for me,

Can’t imagine any of that pipe stuff..

How does it feel…

Slan,
D.

Hey, Johnny Thunders doing LARS. Always liked how he played the guitar. Wait, it’s an unplugged thing.
Was it Shatner or Nimoy that did Like a RS?

By all means give the BH SFs a shot. The Live Bootleg also has their 9 minute version of REM’s One I Love. I was reading about their live shows - the singer would fire shotgun blanks and run chainsaws; the strobe lights would make people pass out ocasionally. Good wholesome fun.

The Beatles- Eleanor Rigby.

A simple song, from a simple rock group, with only vocals backed by a simple string quartet (courtesy of Sir George Martin). A haunting melody that, like Yesterday, will remain a well known song/tune for a long, long time (thanks to elevators and malls).

i’d add my two cents if i knew what a non up song was.

Whew! Glad it isn’t just me!
Let’s see now…
United Parcels
Uppsala Parapsychology
Underarm Parasites
Ulster Protestants (no, no, that can’t be it…)
Undetected Paradox
Un-Pop
Ugly Pagan
Unkind Philharmonic
Unconditional Parenting

…Okay, I give up.

Well, there’s the Upper Peninsula in Michigan which is often called the UP. On the forums UP means Uilleann pipes, but I never heard someone refer to an Uilleann pipe song, they say air just as for whistle, flute, etc., and since Mr. Rietmann plays UP I guess he is having us on or something.

Aaaaaaaah. It’s NAF all over again.

In that case my favourite is “I want to be an Elephant”, but then I’m a bit punch-drunk from the 50songs/90 days Challenge…

UP = Uilleann/Union Pipes.

But it could also mean, Unsettled Person. :stuck_out_tongue:

“Racing the Sun” by Heartsfield

Awesome!

It’s on my top 10 list.

Okay. I figure one good turn deserves another! What the heck does NAF mean? I tried looking it up—there’re lots of possibilities, none of which seem to make sense. Nipple Aspirate Fluid? I don’t think so.

Native American Flute…

I think I have a new favorite song every week. This week it’s that reggaeton song that goes, “Yo soy freaky, freaky, freaky…”
BTW, does anyone actually know the name of that song and who sings it? I want to play it at my wedding.

Que romantico!

It worked for me. It is a great big giant picture, a moving one that is.
