Series 6 of the fantastic Transatlantic Sessions is airing now in the UK. You might be able to catch episodes at http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/tv/categories/music/folk. I know Mike McGoldrick plays Goldie & Kerry Pro whistles but this one he’s playing I don’t know. Hard to get a photo but this was the best I could get. Anyone want to enlighten me? Is it a Goldie with unknown additions?
My guess would be its a tunable Goldie with a mic strapped to it by a bbc sound engineer.

It is hard to see the whistle from just the picture you provided but it doesn’t look like a Goldie. It looks like a whistle from that guy in Nova Scotia who made low D’s with a plastic mouthpiece. Sorry can’t remember his name.
Just noting that McGoldrick is playing in A fingering on a B whistle there. 
Just tried it on with my Syn B tube. I am not use to that fingering but surprisingly works really well. Kudos to you and the Gold standard.

I didn’t get to see the video on BBC but from the blurry picture provided it reminds me of a MacNeil. As seen here being played by Brian Finnegan in Chris Norman’s kitchen!!
That band on it looks like a Syn to me. The band of what looks like decoration just below the strapped on mike, that is.
Getting a sharp picture of Mike is difficult because he never stays still, swaying back and forth, but try this one below. It’s certainly neither of the whistle you mention because the head is metal not plastic or delrin. I’m inclined to think it is one of his Goldies even though I’m puzzled by the band below the mike.
Certainly looks like yer olde Goldie IMO. That “band” jus above the tuning slide might just be a strip of tape..
Looks like an o-ring to me. Maybe he pushes it up close to the blade at times to achieve different tones?
Don’t know or understand about an o-ring. How does that work?

Mostly used on Susatos, but I imagine would have effects on most whistles.
