What would you do with 10 Generation Whistles ?

I just bought 10 new Generation whistles on e-bay for $16… I’m not sure why, but I couldn’t pass them up, WHOA ? Now, the question is what would you do with 10 of them? Solder em together, I’ve got a whistle that’s taller than I am, but don’t quite have enough hands to play…I can give them out to friends as party favors, but then I’d have to throw a party and try to find 10 people I can pretend are friends…open to all ideas (there’s no such thing as a stupid idea that I haven’t already thought of)…thanks.

Ummm…send at least one of them out to Salt Lake City, to be loved and cared for like it was my own!!!

I’ll raise it from a pup! We’ll make a thouroughbred out of it yet! I’ll feed it, and water it, and walk it everyday! I’ll make sure it has plenty of water, and clean bedding…I’ll take it in for shots, and buy it a collar with it’s name on it, so if it ever wanders off, it can be found!

One idea taken from several members is to carry a couple when you play out in public. If a kid or even an adult shows interest in the whistle, they can be given away, hopefully encouraging yet another person to join in our obsession.

Were they all the same key? I once bought two full cards plus a few loose Gens on eBay. Made up two full sets of old-model whistles and kept the Nickel set for me while selling the brass set to another member here.

I know what a lot of people would LIKE to do with them. (Just kidding) Mike

I was bidding on them to use in an introduction to whistling workshop at an upcomming music weekend. At the end of the class those with the potential for WhOA / addiction, would get their first one free. Yep, on my way to becoming the neighborhood whistle pusher.

Glad to see a fellow C&F got the whistles and not a music store.

Play each one daily to assure that you …

Play them all enough to find the one or two that play well, destroy the unplayable ones, and give the rest away to people interested in whistling!

Oh its 10 Generation whistles, NOT 10 generations of whistles. It’s to early in the morning.

Turn around and put 'em back on Ebay, as ‘L@@K! Jen-yoo-wine rare James Galway fed dog flutes from the Old Country’. You will make a killing!

I also won one of those auctions…
I missed my old Gen so much I figured I could find it back…
Since that happened I have lovingly given a whistle to my son, my aunt, put one in our misc instrument basket, and just gave one away as a barter for my drum repair.
They come in handy! I think I might bid again next time around…

Give the rest of us a chance to win too, though - I’ve got that seller bookmarked now. =)

No problem, I still got 5 left! LOL…
And just to let you know, you CAN use a charge card with this seller, even though he states ebay won’t let him have the surcharge…
Once the auction’s over, anything goes, I guess. The shipping was LIGHTNING fast, less than a week.

Get a 4lb. sledge, and a good stump or something, and… Nahhh I have several Generations and apart from the rumors… it may take a few whistles to find a REALLY good one, but you really can’t complain for the price, and they do make a lovely sound in my opinion.

10 of them though… well… they’d make a lovely wall hanging!

I like the idea of giving them away to kids (or adults) that really show an interest. I lost out last year on 72 of 'em that went on Ebay. They are great to have for a workshop, too. I’m sure you’ll think of something constructive…if you can’t…my freebie supply can always use more. Gm

…why not just plant them in the ground and see if they grow?? You could be Johnny Generation-seed.

Play them a bit to sort out any good ones. With the crappy ones, I’d plug all the holes with duct tape then lash them together to make a small raft for my daughter’s Barbie doll
