Hi everyone, this is my first post so hopefully I won’t mess it up too much! Someone at my local session emailed me a query about tracking down a type of whistle he had seen on TV. I couldn’t answer his question but it’s stayed on my mind and now I’m also curious to know what’s being played.
The clip shows Carlos Nunez playing what looks like a low whistle and later a penny whistle. Both instruments look to be diatonic with six holes but they have recorder-like curved mouthpieces and flare wider at the base… Anyway take a look at the video and will be glad to hear your thoughts.
