seems like seth g.'s set is reasonable with short wait time. but, i won’t be able to place an order until next jan. and even after the order there is 6 month of waiting.. what do i do while waiting for the practice set?
i got the tutors (clarke and ennis). the fingering should not be any problem (got it down on GHB practice chanter in 15 min or so.. pat d’arcy might be right, i might get this thing in 3 hrs). even ornamentation seems not all that difficult. bellow/bag coordination might take some time, but the basic idea is same as GHB.. pressure is controlled by the bag and not mouth/bellow.
does playing whistle really contribute to piping like so many faqs suggests?
Yes, whistle can help, in so much as learning the music, but the ornaments are fingered differently. Its mostly up to you how well you can handle multiple fingerings for the same thing. I don’t think the differences between flute, whistle and UPs are significant. Others object to this view strongly.
Bullet,
Why not try for the practice set for sale on ebay it looks smart,
Tony knows a lot on B.C’s pipes just a Idea, if not you could
get a tuteral on Uilleann Pipes by Heather Clarke it comes with
a CD so you can get a idea whats to come until your set arrives,
