Is it just me, or is that instrument missing a couple of tone holes? The keys look like they’re placed for incidentals not to extend the range…

With that style flageolet, there are two additional tone holes in back, for the thumbs.

That’s a French Flageolet. It has four tone holes in front, two in back.
Just as muslims can only eat and drink with a certain hand, the French have one finger on each hand reserved just for wine and cheese, and can’t use them to play instruments. So they use just two fingers and the thumb on each hand to play.
