What should I use to keep brass looking like new?
Wipe down with 0000 (ultra fine) steel wool and finish with a jeweler’s cloth - safe, effective, quick, simple, cheap.

Although I also use the steel wool on the slide, I do not and would not use the jeweler’s cloth on the slide. If you have a sticking problem there, you can also apply some chapstick or vaseline (very little and nowhere else, especially by accident anywhere in the mouthpiece) during and after unsticking.
I just use Brasso on mine, but that’s not the best answer if you’re sensitive to the smell. It does make it look all spiffy, though!

Hagerty Silversmith’s Wipes (the little canister on the right) work extremely well. They’re dry, don’t smell, remove tarnish quickly, and leave little messy residue. A good wipe with a clean cloth is all you need to clean up afterward. You don’t even need a whole wipe, so they’re quite economical.
Try Linens and Things or Bed, Bath, and Beyond, and probably Home Depot and Lowe’s.
