Good evening all in C & F land!!!
This past weekend I was at the New York State Ren-Faire, and heard a very talented quartet play some classic folk songs, ranging from “The Scotsman’s Kilt”, to “Where the Three Counties Meet”. I was happily enthralled by their performance, and showed them with a healthy “tip” in their collection hat. 
Unfortunately, I was with a group of impatient “Non-Trads”, who didn’t value the experience as much as I. So I unfortunately missed asking their flute/whistle player what instruments he was using. I have never seen their like before. And they were quite stunning. The whistles and flute seemed to be of a matched set. They were black polymer, or dark/black wood, with gold ferrules, and the flute had Gold keywork. (Possibly an 8-key “boehm-style”?)
Additionally, The whistles, (Looked like an E-flat, D, and C), all had an unusual fipple. There was no real “lip” on it. It was just a diagonal cut, leading up to the windway. Kind of like a Clark original, but it was rounded at the top, so that the back of the fipple looked like an oval on a diagonal. And the “block” seemed to be part of the whistle cylinder, rather than an inserted block.
If anyone has seen them perform, or has seen a maker’s product line that matches the description, I would be grateful for any info that they could pass on to me.
P.S. The sound from these were all incredible! The upper end of the second octave was surprisingly mellow. And I am positive that he was pushing into the third octave quite effortlessly on no less than 3 separate occaisions.
