Should there by any chance be a gifted guitarist out there who can easily decipher the guitar cords used in the first jig, it would be awesome if he/she would post them

the first tune is the eavesdropper, followed by a jig that josh wrote called the Trip to Vienna. Josh is also playing guitar on the track in addition to flute, so if you are curious about the guitar playing, you may just want to drop him a message. he is on the board under some name like joshd or jdukes. something like that.

Somebody tell me please it’s a different Joshua Dukes than the U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Joshua Dukes who is leading the Old Guard Fife and Drum Corps through their routine during a rehearsal for the 55th Inaugural Parade on Jan. 11, 2005.

It’s the same guy. Josh is an incredibly talented musician (and a really nice guy to boot) who showed up on the Washington DC Irish music scene oh, maybe five years ago now. When he first showed up at the session he was playing bodhran, but he soon moved on to low whistle, then flute and finally he picked up guitar and bouzouki. He had a bit of tutelage along the way from some great players (Myron Bretholz on bodhran and Rob Greenway on flute/whistle/guitar/zouk) but really most of his talent comes from within. He just took to the music straight away like he was born into it. (Which, if you look at the photo via the link, you’ll see that most likely he wasn’t.) Besides the tune on the Eavesdropper clip, Josh has written several other nice tunes. I think he may have posted clips of them on the Clips & Snips page as well - check around under his name and you may find them.
If you want to see/hear Josh in his natural habitat, he usually hangs out at the RiRa session in Bethesda MD (I believe it’s listed in the C&F City Guide), and he’ll be at Swannanoa this summer as well, hanging with young Brendan who’s also no slouch of a flute player. Both of those guys leave me in the dust on a twice-weekly basis at RiRa…
