Give me a list!
My favorites are, and I’d say a good top 5 would be:
Guinness
Harp
Bass
Murphy’s
Young’s Double Chocolate Stout
I don’t know if all of these are actually from Ireland herself, but they’re all pretty commonly found at pubs where lots of Irish music is played!
My favorite top five are:
1: Beamish
2: Beamish
3: Beamish
4: Murphy’s
5: Guinness
1:Guinness
2:Guinness
3:Guinness
4:Guinness
5:Smithwicks
Slan,
D.
I’ve been told that the imports we get in the States are not a proper representation of the same brand sold in Ireland. Therefore I cannot be sure that I could make a real comparison.
[edited because I’m a dumba**]
My tastes have been running more toward pilsners and lagers lately.
Irish Cream Ale is pretty good.
I love Bass ale also, but I thought that it was brewed in England, Burton-on-Trent, (or something like that). If it’s Irish, it’s my favorites.
Otherwise
Beamish
Smithwicks
All the Best, Tom
That’s two people now who seem to think that Bass is Irish. ![]()
Oh, and perhaps you should go back and label this thread OT- although I like any topic on beer!
Tom
Naah! Just add “and the effect it has on whistle playing” to the title. ![]()
I happen to like stouts so I generally flip between Beamish and Guinness since I am fortunate enough to be able to purchase them locally. Murphy’s stout is okay IMO but it’s not my fave. So here is my list more or less in order:
- Guinness
- Beamish
- Smithwicks
- Harp
- Murphy’s Stout
- Wexford Irish Cream Ale
I haven’t tried Murphy’s Red yet. I also enjoy a Magners cider now and then.
Cheers,
Jeff
Guinness
Murphy’s
Bass (English) and first itemized trade mark “red triangle”.
Water.
Yeah. Bass isn’t even Irish. Wow. I know nothing. I guess my favorite Irish beer is Budweiser ![]()
I’ve been away from the suds for a couple months anyway. I decided I was enjoying the juice of the barely a bit too frequently.
I wasn’t trying to be a uppity or anything, I’ve know to be wrong a time or two in my life, so I could have been wrong about the Bass thing, also.
I really like beer, but don’t consume all that much. I would much rather have one or two EXCELLENT beers than a bunch of the usual bland stuff.
All the Best, Tom
Not into drink but you may wantto look at the Black Biddy and stuff like that
Cranberry go back and look at the subject of this thread. Its not “American” beer it’s “Irish” beer! ![]()
Cheers,
David
P.S. What dubhlinn said…
This pretty much sums my tastes up as well. Although I do like a good “Black and Tan” once in a while, which would require Harp’s (at least in the ones that I’ve had).
I didn’t mean that to be one of those “you know everything, I know nothing” smart alek comments."
I was really ticked at myself for talking out of my posterior.
Water.
The only place I know of that will import that is Knock. ![]()
