Thought us people with the Tipple Flutes should get to together and say what options we have on our Flute. I have a Key of D straight Holes (I have big hands I wear a size 12 ring) Gray PVC with vinyl coating in Marble 8 holes and it is 2 pieces. What about yous guys? 
My Tipple is in standard white, buffed to a fine finish, 2-piece, inline tone holes, dimpled bore (the flute, not me). Iâm trying to decide about covering it with contact paper as you have, Unseen, but it almost seems like, by doing that, weâre trying to deceive people into thinking our flute is something other than what it is â a piece of pipe. Not that thatâs a bad thing, mind you.
I do like the ones that Doug has on his website â the reddish woodgrain one, and the black marble. They look great, but I think Iâm just gonna stick with mine as it is. It should yellow a bit with age as well (like Ivory does, says DT), so that will be nice.
I have the six hole grey two piece with ergonomic holes and the wedge. I am a beginner and really struggled when attempting to use the wedge so would rarely use it. I put it in just now for the first time in weeks and to my surprise had no difficulty using it and I really love the tone and way it plays. I guess Iâm finally making progress beyond not getting dizzy. I hope this means Iâm developing a good embrochure.
I am still amazed that such a good flute is available so inexpensively. My hope is that Mr. Tipple will someday make Low A and Bd flutes.
Dimpled white tubing, 2 piece in Eb. I have only the 3rd and 6th holes slightly offset, and itâs very comfortable in the handsâwhile the holes are a bit bigger, the stretch is pretty much the same as a conical D flute.
Mine is a 3-piece 8-holer in grey PVC with the wedge and a pistol case. Personally I think the grey looks elegantly understated compared to the brasher white PVC. It plays louder and with better intonation than my ârealâ wooden flute, a rosewood keyless made by one of Casey Burnsâ apprentices many years ago. I took the Tipple to my favorite Seattle session for the first time last Sunday, and it seemed to be well received. There werenât any hard-core purists there, though. Still, I think it sounds every bit as âwoodyâ as my wood flute.

How loud are these?
Pretty loud this is not a quiet Flute you could easily play it at a large session. It compares with my Alba high D whistle except a little louder.
Almost forgot my Brother can hear it from across the house 
and yells at me at night to stop playing when I am down stairs he is upstairs and across the house. This suprised me a lot.
Plenty loud Jim. A Tipple would make a great street flute.
I had one when I first started fluting. I sold it and have always regretted it. Itâs just too cool to have an instrument that sounds that good made from an old hunk of PVC!
I removed the contact paper from mine and, to my delight, found the original UPC barcodes still intact. To my knowledge Olwell doesnât even offer a flute with UPC barcodingâŚSheesh!
Iâve considered getting another Tipple just for a âkick aroundâ stick but canât decide which model so I never get around to it. So many choicesâŚgrey, white, dimpled, dimple-free, off-set, straight, wedgedâŚ

My Tipple is the 3 piece âdimpled boreâ flute with inline hole spacing, and it came with a hard case. I love the flute and the powerful sound, but I donât think Iâm going to go public anytime soon.
I am the proud owner of a grey plastic ergonomic fingered Tipple. I opened it on Christmas Day, 2004. I love it and I think it likes me, sometimes. First flute I ever played and it will not be the last! I can now eek out the Aran Boat Song and Shenandoah. Sometimes I remember the past and grab a whistle or two just to keep in touch with sanity!

I used to have a 3-piece, 6-hole, in grey PVC with semi-offset holes and the TF wedge. Bloomfield has it nowâŚ

Gray, 3pc, with offset G. I keep it in my car but have been laying off the flute for a while because of my hands. Decent flute though!
We could start a Tipple-Society no non-tipplers allowed. Really folks, there are more people playing these flutes than I expected.
