what a way to start 2003! (OT)

Well…
Happy New Year everyone- my new year got off to a bad start but all’s well that end’s well I suppose…

So the mice are back (remeber my previous post?..)Well its more then that…

So on New Year’s Eve my Dad seemed sick- he had a bad headache and by nighttime his face swelled up all around his eyes and nose… My Mom ordered me to take him to the ER (she can’t drive and she had to stay with my newphew because my bro was out partying). So me and my poor Pops end up hanging out in the ER all New Years Eve… finally after about 5 hours they saw him, and an hour after that I was called in to discover that he was going to be kept at the hospital because the swelling was an infection in his sinus/eye area and it could leak to his brain and cause swelling there, and my dad had to stay to get antibiotics and be watched.

Okay can i tell you, it’s aweful to have to leave your dad in the hospital? I’m lucky because my Dad has always been in the best of health, and I’m still fairly young so I haven’t really had to deal with careing for a parent, but it was such a horrible feeling to see my Dad so sick and scared (he had never been in a hospital before)and then to have to leave (they sent me home) him there, and go home to a worried mom, scared nephew and drunk brother and deal with them?

So anyway Dad spent New Years Day in the hospital just in a bad state- grumpy, scared, but the doctors told us it was going to be okay because he had come in with plenty of time… yesterday I was scheduled to fly back to Boston for my final exams (I was home in LA) and my parents forced me to go even though my Dad was still in the hospital, and I didn’t want to go anywhere but stay home and take care of my parents.

Anyway yesterday while on my layover my Dad called and told me he was out of the hospital and feeling better… anyway when i got to my apartment in Boston I discovered that the mice that had been in our kitchen had a field day in my room- mouse droppings EVERYWHERE… in my bed (all over my bed- it was so gross- on the floor, in my clothes, all over my stuffed animals- I mean like mad infestation) I don’t know what the hell they are eating because all the food is put away… I think they were just hanging out because i was gone for so long..

so this morning I washed all my sheets, lysoled my mattress, my stuffed toys (which i have to hand wash later) pinsoled the floor and am still contending with the damned critters… but I tell myself you know what- its no big deal because at least my Dad is out of the hospital, and mice I can deal with..

well this is long and rambling…
