Western Coast of Florida

I’m still down here in Sarasota, and I have quite a bit of free time this weekend (like, all of it is free).

If anyone is up for some tunes, or showing off of pipes, or whatever, let me know!

Nico

Go pick on Joseph!

djm

  1. That’s a pretty far drive

  2. He might be busy (posting, j/k)

  3. I’m scared of his EYES!

Still, Joe? You around?

Don’t forget…Joe may be up to his elbows…I mean shoulders…in …well…you know…like…ummmmm…never mind.

Joseph’s crazy down in Florida, He will eat your children…

I am about 90-100 miles or so away, which really isn’t that far considering I drove from my place in Central Florida to St. Petersburg and back every day for school… A round trip of 185 miles or so.

I’d be interested in getting together, having some tunes and a couple of pints, some chicken (I’m just not up to eating any cow at this time…if you understand what I mean…) maybe get some reeds sorted out, who knows, anything is possible.

Timing might be a little dicey. How long will you be down in sunny/rainy/sunny Florida for?

i am even far away than Joseph, but am willing at just about any time, to get together for some tunes with whomever is in this fine stormy state (just had tropical storm Tammy drench the area… up to “T” for heaven’s sake!!)

alas, however, i am limited to certain zipcodes during the last weeks/days/hours/minutes of my wife’s pregnancy (soon to be blessed with a new female piper folks!!)… but if you are willing to come to us, i can very quickly arrange for a house session with some of the South East’s best irish trad musicians.

so if you hit the road, give me a shout… straight up 75 from sarasota…

maze
:boggle:

Maze - let us know when the new Pipette arrives!!

Could I attend as well?

Maze,

Joseph and I were talking about getting together, but it might work out better if we headed to your place.

I’m free all weekend, but prefer Saturday as there is a session in Naples I might hit on Sunday.

I don’t even know what city you’re in! Give me an email or PM.

Nico

I am up in Gainesville… a veritable haul from sarasota… but i thuess we all do what we can do.

i will PM you my email so we can discuss plans. sunday works better for me, however, as i am already arranging a rehearsal for an upcoming performance, and she who carries child and must always be obeyed would lower the boom if i were retained for non-baby preparation activities for two days rather than one.

Joseph, you know you are always welcome you big lug!..

I am up for the trip to Gainesville, either day works well for me. I might even make a brief stop to harvest some cane… hmmmmmmm…

I’d be up for Sunday…

I sent you a PM and email maze. Gainsville isn’t so bad… I drove to Miami last weekend.

If it’s on the way I could stop by your place Joseph. I have a rental, so you wouldn’t have to use your own car.

Right… we’ll have to do this.

That’s funny, I was going to recommend you stop here, and I would drive up… either way works for moi. I’ll chip in for gas if we use your ride.

… Ummmmmm… does your rental have room for fresh cut arundo?

Ok,

So somebody set a time, and everybody give me directions or an address.

I’m up for it!

How tall?

It’s got a pretty deep trunk… maybe not a great idea to dirty it up too bad, but, what the heck, why not!

Got to have room for the pipes too, you know!

joseph and nicholas,

what time suits you? late morning or very early afternoon to begin is fine… then you guys can go with me to rehearse for a gig coming up if you want… have some beers with my other musicians later in the afternoon.

if that sounds good let me know. i will send directions via email…

Sounds good… I’ll get up early, leave by 8, and we should be there by lunch?

Sound good?

Joe, that’d mean I’d be getting to your place by about 10 or so… or should I be leaving later?

(hmm… a mile is 1.62 km so I have to… hmm… let’s see now…)

It was a pleasure meeting Nico at Maze’s Musical Palace in Gainesville yesterday. Tunes were had, pipes were exchanged, reeds freaked out (ermmm… my own, actually… ) and John Maze treated us to a Subway lunch. A pleasant way to spend a Sunday afternoon… and I had an opportunity to cut some cane on my way up… woo hoo!!

Nico’s Joe Kennedy half set is a thing of beauty, and has a sweet tone to it. Good piping there Nico!

Thanks for having us up there, and your fine hospitality John.

Nico, safe travels to you sir!
