Ah, that was some fun. Don’t think I heard an accordion the whole weekend. But I kid the accordionists.
Joey Abarta was a revelation, as they say. Best combination of Irish pipes and restless leg syndrome since Jerry O’! Don’t forget what I said about that bass regulator, J. Steal one from a lesser musician if need be. If it doesn’t have a bass reg it’s crrrrrappp!
Shared lodgings with my fellow Kevin R, lovely gent. Showed us his thoroughly beat to hell set made by his grandfather for “some dentist.” Dr. Payne, perhaps? Also learned how to correctly pronounce “Rowsome.” Soft o in the first syllable. Oh! Long e in the first syllable of Rietmann, fyi.
Also learned what awaits in the afterlife for those who make drone reeds out of Tupperware and brass tube. It’s not pleasant, probably something involving the insertion of the aforementioned materials into sensitive bodily orifices…
A fine event indeed. Unfortunately I couldn’t stay for Sunday, but Fridays welcome party and all day Saturday were fantastic. The evening concert was not to be matched. With the likes of Denis Brooks and “The one and only Kevin Rowesome.” A historical occasion. Many thanks to Rod and Tom and every one, too many to mention on one page, who helped organize and pull it off. Special thanks to the beer fairies who showed up just in a nick of time when the beer ALMOST…GASP RAN OUT!!! NOOOOThen just when we had almost lost all hope …there they were Plenty O Beer for all Thanks Guys!!!
Long O, I should have said. I think it was Paddy Moloney who pronounced it to rhyme with “Owwww!,” confusing matters a great deal. Maybe that was just Paddy’s enormous schnoz talking, though.
