This is the greatest thing that has happened since I became somebody by having my name published in a phone book (wild and crazy guy that I am)! Now I’m on my way and surely fame and fortune will follow me for all my days (or is that daze?). I’ve got a song published on the Internet at: http://tinwhistletunes.com/clipssnip/flute.html
I don’t think it is too shabby for a toddler of a flute player (just over one-year). But, the cheap microphone on my computer makes the Marcus Hernon flute sound clean (almost sterile) and it just ain’t so!
This is a reel, you need to get the rhythm going properly you are playing the notes and a few extras but not in anything resembling the right rhythm. Play it really simply and slowly at first don’t do any decoration then build up on that foundation. There is a great version of the tune by Noel Hill on The Irish Concertina and Grey Larson covers it in his opus it’s a good reel to learn as it has a fine swagger to it! You might try an even easier reel to get the idea, I was taught the Sunny Banks to get me started, but it took me a while to make it sound at all convincing!!
It took me a long time to be able to play a Reel with the right rhythm. Just keep on listening it really helps if you try to play what you have heard that is how it really clicked for me.
