A-ha. Very edifying indeed. We are all improved for it. I think.
This project must be sponsored by the porn industry.

My thoughts also Bloomfield. Reach out and touch someone takes on a whole different meaning now.

Well, it might help prevent the spread of bird flu.
It is believed that most cases of bird flu infection in humans have resulted from contact with infected poultry or contaminated surfaces.

Ah, yes. I think MarkB was worrying about infected birds, too. ![]()

I think this must be for those furrys. If your favorite furry goes on vacation then I guess you can pet it via computer.
Although I’m sure there will be wider applications, their examples did not seem very convincing to me:
Remote interaction could allow people who are allergic to dogs and cats to caress their pets remotely. Used in zoos, it may allow visitors to pat a lion or scratch a bear.
I don’t think my kitties would appreciate sensors tingling on their bodies for no apparent reason. They would think it was a bug or something. And think of the poor bear, suddenly feeling a scratching sensation without seeing anything. It would be biting and scratching trying to get rid of it. And what a thrill to push a button and annoy a bear!
I think that has already been established Cynth ![]()
Slan,
D.
Hmm… There may be religious applications for this technology. From the article:
This computer triggers tiny vibration motors in a lightweight jacket worn by the chicken, meaning the chicken feels the user’s touch in the exact same place as the doll was stroked.
That sounds like a Voodoo doll to me…
I think the chicken is just a ruse and the scientists have already developed and ready to market a coat of many sensors ![]()

It’s already been done. I can’t find the link though. Might not be safe to post for a “family” site.

Me too! I don’t see why it can’t be posted here, when the alternative use of the Harry Potter broom was discovered it was discreetly talked about here in the forum with great humour.
