Next week I’ll be in Dublin for a long weekend (Thu, Fri, Sat, Sun). 
I’ve never been to Dublin before, so I ask here. What are the places to be for real good Trad sessions ?

everybody will probably suggest Cobblestone on Smithfield market - sessions are held everyday
and they pour nice and not over priced pints
Thursday - there’s a nice session in Palace Bar, upstairs
Friday and Saturday - Devitt’s on Camden St. also upstairs.
Sunday you may wanna head down to Bowes on Fleet St.
the three seesions above starts around 9:30 as far as I remember.
during the day you may go to O’Donoghues on Baggott St. - music is ok but the pints of Guiness they pour over there are just brilliant, IHMO the best in Dublin.

nope, you don’t have to pay anything, part for the bill for the pints
sessions are free. and there are quite a few good musicians there.

there’s a lot of music in Temple Bar area most of the week
but some places are not very nice - not to mention, way over priced.
do you know where are you going to stay in Dublin?
We will stay at the Maldron Hotel, 1 Granby Row.

I think I know the hotel, never been there, but I’m passing it everytime I’m on the aircoach going to the airport.
pretty good location - even though it’s north side - as you’re within a walking distance to a city centre.
you may book guinnes storehouse tour online - cheaper than at the spot. i’ll you’ll go there Sunday around 2pm my friends (The New Free) are playing a gig there in the pub.
nice food and service you can find in The Bank - on college green - it may look posh but it’s nice & they’ve good prices. if you’ll be in Temple Bar area try Old Storehouse - it’s very nice pub, and they’ve good food and drink prices are lower than your average Temple Bar area pub. and if you’ll be there on Saturday between 5:30 and 7:30pm come and say Hi as we’ll be playing there.
I’ll be honest here and I don’t like pubs in TB area except for the Old Storehouse and Palace. you may want to check the Porterhouse - they’ve live music and they make their own beer and some of it it’s pretty nice - especially if you’ll be craving something like kriek or something.
you can check out Temple Bar pub - I don’t like it - but on Sunday at 7pm you can find there Lad Lane playing, really good band.
also what you can do is look for the musical pub crawl. it’s very funny and pretty interesting. and you can meet really good musicians there - I’ve played it couple times with friends and it was just great. actually friend of mine who’s playing it on Thursdays goes straight to a session in Palace right after that.
I wouldn’t really bother with Jameson distilery - I’ve found the tour quite boring, Guiness is much more interesting.
if you want to see the sites and other touristy stuff.
Malahide Castle is pretty cool. Kilmanha Gaol - the prison is very interesting.
if the weather will be nice you can go to Dun Laoghaire - you can take Dart (train) there - and go for a walk on the piers. going further that way you can visit Dalkey and Bray. on the other side of the bay you can go to Howth, really nice view from there.
well, that should keep you busy for those few days.
