This past Friday night, there was a special event in my hometown.
A very exclusive country club has just opened up, and they are beginning a guest lecturer series. The inaugural guest was none other than the 39th President of the United States, George Herbert Walker Bush.
My fife and drum corps was hired to be the honor guard for the event.
Not only did we get to escort the Pres in with patriotic fervor, but we also had the pleasure of enjoying an open bar all night, surf and turf entree, spectacular fireworks display, and photo op/ handshaking session with the President – and we got paid for the job!
All politics aside, it was an honor to be able to serve in this manner.
Next month, the second speaker in the series is former President Clinton – and we may also be asked to play for that event as well.
Man, I live for this stuff!!
BTW, the other suit is the Governor of Rhode Island, Donald Carcieri.
