I’m thinking about trying my hand at playing the flute. I’ve been looking at the WD Sweet Shannon. I have Irish Whistles that I really enjoy, and a Hall Crystal flute (Low D) that I swear at every time I try to play it.
Is the Shannon as difficult to play as the Hall Crystal? Any suggestions?
I found the Shannon to be easy to play, in tune, great sound, and a great bargain at the price. Made of delrin, it’s almost indestructible. The only draw-back I found is that it requires a different C-nat fingering than my other flutes. It took a while to adapt. but that’s only a minor issue. For a delrin flute, I’d recommend it highly.

The Shannon is much, much easier to play than the Hall Crystal flute. The Hall flutes are really unique, and really are not that easy. I can wholeheartedly recommend the Shannon.

I’m a fan of the Sweet Shannon flute. It’s a good instrument, nice volume and presence. Not the most refined tone out there, but unbeatable for its price point.
Thanks for the comments guys! I got a little shy of the flute after my experience with the Hall Crystal, but maybe it’s worth a try.
Worst case is that if it doesn’t take, there should be a market for you to sell it on…
