I soak my slips in Neets, then tie them to a 1 5/8" pvc pipe until they are dry, then cut, bind and sand. Makes them more resistant to humidity changes, or so the story goes (jury’s still out).
On NPU’s DVD “The Heat of the Instrument”, Cillian O’Briain shows using a candle to wipe the inside of his reed slips before assembling them.
