Warped Spiral Galaxy ESO 510-13

Denny, Here 's a stupid question that you might be able to answer. It arises from the notion of a warped galaxy being the result of a collision.

Given the assumption that the Big Bang occurred in a Void, and matter exploded - that is to say, all existing particles flew away from each other, presumably in the nature of an expansion, how could collisions occur? Something would have to have altered the trajectory of some particles. It is a thing which doesn’t make sense to me. What am I missing?

I am by no means a physicist but I have watched a few TV shows about the Big Bang. I’m guessing that when particles spread out, some went at speeds faster than others, some particles clustered in significant numbers to cause gravitational forces so that when the slower particles passed by, their trajectory diverted, and some particles bumped into each other getting out of the gate (I’ve not seen this last theory, that’s my own idea.)

You’ve taken inconsistent velocity and unequal dispersement.

They can bump into each other anywhere if you grant either.

Bob’s yer uncle

Mutey, yer messing with yer board persona :really:

It’s the exception that proves the rule.

(That was awesome, although a sacriledge.)

yes

made me think of ya, it did

Thank you for the answers.

Yeah, that was a damn shame. I hope he put his hand in his pocket for a new paddling pool.

Here’s a related question, judging by the trajectories of most objects, has anyone hypothesized where the Big Bang occurred?

Where is the centre of the universe?
