I’m sure you all know Regina Edgar, the wonderful 17-year-old fiddler from Gladwin who plays with the group Fireweed. She is a member of this list and one of the most avid supporters of the festival that you can imagine. Many of us know and adore this sweet, talented, mature young lady.
Unfortunately yesterday Regina received some news which would devestate many people, but with her spirit, intelligence, and faith, she’s handling it very well. Regina was diagnosed with a form of cancer: Hodgkin’s disease. The good news is that there’s a high cure rate for this type of cancer, the scary part is that she hasn’t been well for some time, and has treatments to go through.
We are all very important to her. She looks to the music community as her extended family. After checking with her, she has agreed that you all need to know.
Let’s keep her in our prayers. Let’s support her in any way we can. I told her she can count on us.
Sorry for not editing the first post…got away from me.
I did want to explain that this came from the Dulcimer list but thought you might be interested since you are such a caring community. I’m sure any words of encouragement will be appreciated for this brave young lass. GM
Hi Betty,
Thanks for your caring heart and sweet spirit! Your young friend has the prayers of this cancer survivor! I’ll send her an email message, too.
I hope and pray that she comes through this well. No doubt there is a heavy emotional load to go along with cancer, along with the physical discomfort. It is great that she can have the support of a strong community.
