It’s been 15 years but I’m getting the notion to get back to playing a 12 string.
Does anyone have any suggestions? I’m looking for something semi-acoustic, pre-owned and obviously in good condition. My budget is NOT enormous.

I have been tossing around the idea of selling my 12 string guitar for a while. However, it’s 100% acoustic, not ‘semi’ as you indicated. It’s a Seagull S12+. You can see one at: http://www.seagullguitars.com/products12%2B.htm
I find that it holds it’s tuning very well, and it sounds great. I just don’t play it often enough.

I’ve heard good things about that Applause 12-string with the pickup thingy in it: here. The price is certainly right.
I have an Alverez AJ 60 that I have not been playing. It is an acoustic unit but very nice tone. I bet I do not have 10 hours playing time on it. HSC included. Let me know if you are interested.
Thanks for all the interest. In fact, I bought a nice Ovation Ultra 12 string semi-acoustic last week. Here’s a photo:
When it arrives I’ll tune it DADGAD and have a bit of fun with it over the coming weeks trying to play jigs and reels (like I do with my 6 string). I’ll post a few clips so that folks can decide for themselves whether 12 strings can be played DADGAD.

Well, no dark secrets… I’m just a dabbler on guitar (acoustic and electric), as well as on mandolin, trumpet, flute and a few other assorted instruments… pipes and whistles included!
Recently, I have been entertaining the notion of trying out harp… time will tell where that notion leads…
