I was listening to WFO2 (Wooden Flute Obsession 2) and heard a tune on disc 2, track#22 (last track)“Maid of Coolmore/Shores of Lough Reagh” played by Zac Leger on flute, really liked it, and started looking for more of Zac’s music. That led me to his website, and on his start page, there is a nice Low D whistle air called “West of the Sun, East of the Moon” from an album he was on called “Laird of the Rings”. He plays with a touring group called Oisre. This may be old news to some of you, but it’s all new to me. Zac has also posted here occasionally under the name “fluteboy”.

I sent an email to Zac, telling him I had posted here, and that I really liked his music. I also asked about where I could find this cd that had this tune on it, and this is Zac’s reply:

Thank you for your kind comments. I appreciate them very much. It’s a little embarrassing, as, due to one thing and another, I have not really had a chance to update my site in quite some time. The bio and most of the audio tracks are several years old at least. Yikes.
“West of the Sun, East of the Moon” is from the album, “Laird of the Rings”, a collection of Tokien songs set to new music as well as new tunes (airs, jigs, reels, etc) inspired by his writings.I recorded it several years ago along with a couple other guys, and wrote or co-wrote much of the material.
I don’t currently have any in stock, but you could order a copy from this
website: > http://www.thebordercollies.com > (the guitar player in this band was the mastermind/engineer/producer behind the “Rings” project). We were never able to release on a national or international basis like we planned, as any projects using actual Tolkien lyrics have been barred by the Tolkien Estate as the New Line Cinema has full and exclusive rights at the moment.
However, we can still make them availible on a small scale for “suggested donations”. Just send Michael an e-mail and he’ll let you know how to get a copy.
