Walton Low D whistle??

Howdy all.

This is my first post though I have been
lurking for awhile.

My question is this. I just bought my first low D whistle in a local store. They said it
was a Walton low D whistle. I cannot find any thing that says that Walton MAKES a low D whistle. There is no name on the whistle either. It is all aluminum and the only marking on the whistle is a ‘D’ on the front towards the bottom.

It seems to be a nice whistle, but does Walton indeed make a low D to anyones knowledge??

It sounds like a chieftain to me, how much did you pay for it? That could give me a better indication.

I paid $160.00 for it. Probably a bit steep, but I like shopping at small local shops when ever I can. I don’t maind paying a few extra bucks that way.

Jack - I went to a web site with a picture of a Chieftain and my whistle looks exactly like the picture. Thats for the educated guess - which was dead on. It’s nice to know what I have.

Now I just have to learn to play the darn thing!!

Be sure to warm it up before you make your judgement. And that price is a little steep but I agree it is better to shop and help out local mom and pops, instead of saving a few bucks and letting Walmart take over.

Definitely sounds like a Chieftain to me; never heard of Walton low whistles.

I’ve heard (don’t remember where) that Walton’s used to have a low D, but quit producing them a number of years ago.

Waltons did sell a whistle which they called their own for a while and put “Waltons” - stickers on saying “Waltons” and their address. I saw two of them first time just last weekend. I presume they stopped doing it after Bernard Overton found out and had a stamp made up with “Overton” on (which was the reason why he started stamping them). There are people who like to give it a try…

Hope this helps
