I was digging through the attic earlier this week hoping to find a full set
of red-tip Generations I’ve owned since 68/69 (but haven’t seen for over
twenty years) and discovered some other stuff of interest including the
official programme of the 3rd Boys of Ballisodare Music Festival held in
Sligo in 1979. Check out the line-up of some of the musicians playing
in the single big tent over that four day weekend:

Apart from some drunk backing his car over my tent whilst I was still in
the thing it was a great weekend of incredible music … and of drinking
smooth pints of stout outside local pubs with spontaneous sessions
involving loads of top players breaking out on the streets of Ballisodare.
Although no one knew it at the time it was the Bothy Bands last live performance.
