Waldco Pictures Television stole the show at the Academy of Television Awards again this year.
Best Horse in a Situation Comedy was won, for the third time, by Sweggo the Wonder Horse, of “Fairly Stables,” the long-running series about a talking horse living at an upscale mental institution.
Best Rehashed Series was won by Waldco Studios’ “The Waltons: Next Impact,” which airs on Qubo, a digital sub-channel of Ion Television (formerly Pax TV).
Cutest Child Star went to little Miss Kate Larkin of the Larkin Triplets, who star as the precocious Desiree on “Cloud McCleod and the Sunshine Kids.”
Lisa Bonet of the CW’s “Blame the Parents” won Best Supporting Actress In a Canceled Series.
And finally, studio head Mr. Walden was presented with the Lifetime Agrievement Award for having wasted the Academy’s time for so many years.
Is this that one where Walton’s Mountain turns out to be the rendezvous site when the aliens finally decide to give Richard Dreyfuss back, and Erin and Mary Ellen get in a big ol’ squabble about which of them is going to make the mashed potatoes for the picnic, but then Elizabeth and Jim Bob upset the apple cart by building their tree fort right smack dab on the alien landing pad, and the only way to keep their little hearts from breaking is a heartfelt anecdote, delivered off-the-cuff by John Boy, and the aliens like the story so much that they suck him up when they drop Dreyfuss, but to make up for John-Boy being whisked away from the Walton Homestead right on the eve of his return to Botewright U., the aliens swap him out for one of those little big-headed baby-thingies, who Ben calls John-thing, but Jason wants to call Fweeeetzl-boy, and then it turns out that Fweeeetzl-boy really takes to Miss Mamie and Miss Emily and gets in the winsome habit of spiking the Sunday cornpone with “the recipe”? But it all turns out ok, because they all love each other, even Richard Dreyfuss?
Yeah, that’s a good one.
I would point out that Schuyler, Virginia where the Waltons (real spelling: Walden) are from is pronounced “Skyler” and has long been known as an alien spaceport for south central Virginia. The one in Northern Virginia is called Reagan, pronounced: Raygun.
And down in my often forgotten little corner of south west Virginia, we got one too, thanks to mountain top removal coal mining-sure looks like an alien landscape to me…
