Waiting for my new Low D

Hello everyone, this is my first post, please be gentle. I have been teaching myself whistle for a year or so - I play violin and piano also, but not Irish. Anyhow, approaching my 50th birthday soon I was asked if I would like anything particular as a present. I said that a low D would be very nice and so, without doing any homework or coming to this forum first, ordered a Spillane Low D. I was excited at the prospect of owning such a beast made by the hands of the man himself and to some extent pursuaded by the response to some enquiries I made by email. I know, I should have done more homework before jumping in. Please don’t remind me of the kinds of adjectives I have already called myself. My point in posting is to relate how easy it might be for the naive to be seduced in such a way.
regards
Harry

Many of us jumped into all of this without much research ourselves. I applaud your action of going straight to the low D. Please let us know when it comes in and how it goes. I don’t play irish music myself (even on the whistle, low D, or irish flute.) How did you want to come to play the low D?

Welcome.

Good morning Harry. Welcome to Chiff & Fipple, and the exciting world of whistles. The legendary Spillane whistle is an excellent choice and an investment.
