On the way home from work this morning I was listening to a Philadelphia radio show ( Michael Tierson, Saturday Morning Sixties), and he played a horrible new version of a Moody Blues classic, “Knights In White Satin”. Awful as it sounded, it dawned to me how absolutely beautiful a whistle would supplement this song…
I believe a flute is on the original soundtrack.

BTW, It’s NIGHTS in White Satin (not “Knights”). Think satin sheets.
I agree, the flute on the recording is out of tune…I’ve often wondered if this was done deliberately, to give the whole thing a slightly edgy dissonance (this is from the era of acid rock, after all).
