Along a similar vein to the fellow who is asking about drone recordings in another thread, I have been trying to find a decent method for simulating bodhran accompaniment for when I am practicing. There are a number of software drum machines, but I’ve yet to come across freeware. Does anyone know of some software that can simulate a decent number of beat combinations, b.p.m.s, etc. and is available for little or nothing?

Check it out.
There’s this thing on the web called www.google.com. You enter your search string and it brings up all sorts of related sites. I entered “virtual drums” and got all sorts of hits, much of it free, with many features. Please give it a try.

Well, shoot, djm, you should have told me that about slow airs!

I love the joke I read on this forum a few months ago - How many bodhran players does it take to change a lightbulb? None, they have a machine that can do that now.
It’s funny because it’s true.
Gee, I don’t use Google that way, because usually you would want to know the name of the air first. Searching on the string “slow air” brings up a few valid sites, but a lot strange stuff, too (unless you’re a buildings engineer).

from that site:
“For each beat in your measure, enter zero for silence…”
