I’m new to the post, and relatively new to whistling (using an instument). Anyway, I have “the disease” and find myself looking for whistles everywhere I go. I recently purchased a vintage whistle. Who would be most qualified to help me with identifcation?
Just about everyone here, I think. But it would be much easier with a description or better yet a picture of the whistle. 
A lot of folks here can help, and if it’s something REALLY unique, there’s a couple of ancient-intruments experts wo can be invoked at need. Like Bloomifield said, a picture or at least a very detailed description would help.

'Bout twenty miles NW of Springfield in Menard County. (For the folks who think “Southern Illinois” is defined as anything south of the Cook County line, that’s about as far as Milwaukee from Chicago).
