Here’s a copy of the post on the Clips site. I figured a few people might be curious about the sound of that all-metal whistle and might not look at the other board. To hear the sound, click below on the Clips link below and go to Newspage or reel page.
5/18/02 Well, the person who bought the vintage all-metal Generation D on ebay wants to share the sound with us all, but not his/her name. That, I will take with me to the grave. (Unless I’m paid a lot of money. Maybe I’ll auction the name on ebay.) In the whistle owner’s own words: “The whistle arrived and here’s a tune - Galway Rambler (reel) on vintage Generation D. I’ll give a description - Non-tunable, lead plug, pristine condition. The whistle is a nice weight; comparable to the feel of a Sindt because of the lead plug. It is a bit sharp against a tuner, but perfect tune with itself. Great chiff, lightning response, low air requirement - Generation should seriously consider producing this model again. It is the much sought after “perfect” Generation.” Eat your hearts out, people. It really is an amazing sounding whistle. I’m playing Swallowtail Jig (Tony Higgins- not on the Generation).
